First solar rebates sent out!

On Friday, May 21 st, NV Energy held a conference call with solar contractors around the state to advise about the progress of the program. With just over 13 megawatts of funding available and with over 34 megawatts applied for (28 legitimate megawatts), there’s no doubt interest in renewable energy is higher than ever before. The program sent out the first notifications of solar rebate approvals on Friday via registered mail. By Tuesday & Wednesday, (May 25 & 26) the first recipients of the current program funding will receive their notices. Those not receiving notices will have to wait for either step two or three to be notified of their potential reservations – unless NV Energy’s newest plan gains traction. (more…)

Nevada’s solar rebate program called Solar Generations was hugely successful. In fact, there were over 34 MEGAwatts of applications within just 6 hours of the opening bell – but only 13 MEGAwatts available. This means that the program is no longer accepting rebate applications, however, NV Energy now has a strong case for requesting additional funds citing the success and demand for the program. Hopefully soon, we’ll find out that more money has been allocated to complete the applications currently in process.

Beginning April 21st NV Energy will  begin assigning rebates between $5000 and $23,000 to people who have contracted to install solar!
